Godzilla is spoken in the same breath as the Universal Studios monster royalty, Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy, Wolfman, and “The Creature from the Black Lagoon”.
Originating from Toho studios, the concept of Godzilla was born in 1954 and debuted in the movie, “Godzilla, King of the Monsters” starring Raymond Burr. Just as Lugosi, Chaney, Chapman, and Karloff brought life to the monsters they played, Japanese actor and WW2 veteran Haruo Nakajima donned the suit to play the most recognizable reptile on the planet, “Godzilla”.
I feel it is important to immortalize the work of the actor by creating pieces for the actors to sign. A carefully selected image will capture the work of the actor, and an autograph will serve as a permanent connection between the star and the all future admirers of the piece.
We first met with Nakajima on March 29th, 2014 at the Burbank, CA, Monster Palooza convention. We contracted with him to sign:
100 index card
180 Awesome, 16×20 oversized images
200 custom trading cards
For those that have never seen his signature, it is a work of art. The signature flows from top to bottom, in traditional Japanese style. The pieces created for the signing were carefully crafted to properly highlight the style of signature applied by Nakajima. Simply put, each item signed is a miniature work of art.
Due to his age and desire to provide perfect signatures, the signing was scheduled to be completed at the Orlando, Spooky Empire Show. More of the fantastic finish to follow.
