Offered are a pair of Mitre boxing shoes dating to World Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali’s 1977-78 era training sessions. “Ali” handwritten in black marker on interior of each shoe. The style of the writing is consistent to other shoes examined by MEARS and thought to have been applied by long time corner man Wali “Blood” Muhammad. Size 13. Moderate to heavy wear with some scuffing and staining present to the outer portions of the shoes. “Cut marks” were applied to the bottom of the shoes, another known Ali trait, which were placed there by the training staff to help prevent slippage during rope work and sparring in the ring.
