As the hobby continues to grow, there are parts of it that are getting “too big”.  It was my belief that nothing beats meeting a customer/dealer in person, examining their merchandise, and gathering in an intimate setting to tell hobby “war stories” and talk about the good ole’ days. The commercial nature of the big mega shows certainly has an appeal to the masses, but I have heard time and time again that collectors long for the days of a more intimate venue for a show.
After listening to my customers and strongly sharing the exact same sentiments, MEARS Auctions has launched Pop Con Milwaukee. Our current press release summarized what the show is all about. Based on the amount of hobby support we receive, the show can grow to capture everything that our customers have asked for.
Pop Con Milwaukee, November 4th-5th, 2017
Pop Con Milwaukee 2017
Coming off the huge success of last year’s Inaugural event, this year’s Pop Con is poised to become the most fan friendly convention in the Midwest. Carroll Spinney (Bird Bird), Jim Steranko (Legendary Comic Artist), and scores of actors, artists, and unique vendors helped us launch last year’s first annual event.
This year, Sam Jones (Flash Gordon), Pete Rose (All Time Hit King), John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard), Burt Ward (Robin), Lee Meriwether (Catwoman), Danny Seagren (Electric Company Spiderman), Jackson Bostwick (Captain Marvel), and Lydia Green (Ewok Empire Strikes Back) are our featured celebrity guests. Legendary artist Mike Grell and Arvell Jones will be on hand to create original art for their fans, sign autographs, and curate a collection of original art done for the MEARS Pop Culture Gallery which specialized on 1960/70s Super Heroes. Lilith Lovecraft & Dr. Destruction will be our horror host MC’s.
Times, autograph prices, and photo op information will soon be posted on the website.
Vendors will include artists, autograph dealers, breweriana, sports memorabilia, comic, prints, toys, movie posters, mixed media, Victorian mourning inspired art, Remind Magazine, Verizon Wireless, cartoonist, Live Pod cast, sculptures, EX Energy Drink, R2-D2 Builders Club, and the Graveyard Records & Movie Maniacs Memorial sale in honor of the late Pop Con Milwaukee co-founder Dave Curtis. Cosplay, photos ops, guest panels, and much more will be offered at the event.

When asked about Pop Con 2017, founder Troy R. Kinunen replied “I am looking forward to witnessing the positive interaction of our growing fan base with the diverse personality and achievements of the celebrities in attendance and sharing the overall experience with the quality vendors which will be exhibiting their goods. Pop Con has created an intimate setting where collectors, dealers, and celebrities can meet. This is a throwback concept which embraces the “Good Ole Days” of collecting before the age of the internet. ”
