I don’t get to Milwaukee as often I would like, but this weekend is going to be a very special event. While my trips are typically centered on evaluating uniforms, this trip is all about the MEARS Museum effort.  Over the past few months, a number of items have been sent in preparation of this day.   Some of the more significant or interesting artifacts include:

New York Yankees Case
-c1957-1962 batting helmet with original felt NY logo intact
-1937/1938 Yankees team surgeon medical supplies trunk
-1950s Jerome Ave (Yankee Stadium stop) ball park sign
-1950s/1960s Yankee Stadium ticket stub drum

New York Giants Case
-1954 spring training banner
-1947 Phil Rigney 221 home run ring
-1954 Willie Mays advertising brochure

San Francisco Giants Case
-1960s game worn Giants jerseys of Felipe, Matty, and Jesus Alou along with a scorecard from their September 1963 debut at the Polo Grounds against the New York Mest

St. Louis Cardinals Case
-Vintage portable gramophone, 78rpm and sheet music for Pass the Bisquits, Mirandy.  Along with this are other items related to the 1942 to include a congratulatory telegram to Stan Musial (ex Musial family archive)

Milwaukee Braves Case
-c1953 Milwaukee Braves Country Stadium bus sign

Chicago Cubs Case
-1968 Glen Beckert home jersey with Illinois Sequential patch
-1920s and 1930s Chicago Cubs tobacco tins
-1980s Wrigley Field ushers jacket
Brooklyn Dodgers Case
-Rare late 1940s Brooklyn Dodgers souvenir pillow
-Various smalls related to Ebbets Field in the 1950s

There will be other items added to the various displays currently on hand. In addition, we hope to lock in some the details for a possible “Open House” held in conjunction with the 2017 National Collectors Convention that will be held in Chicago (a little over an hour drive from the MEARS facility).
