When you consider that the most popular sports in the world is soccer aka. Futobol, one of the first names that comes to mind is that of Pele. No other single player Americanized the sport of soccer more than the quick, slight, slick footed talent. It is virtually impossible to find game used remnants from Pele’s playing days yet Vintage Authentics has managed to secure both a home and road game used jersey from the sports mega star.
The White version is long sleeved New York Cosmos home jersey worn by international soccer legend Pele during his 1982 season. The jersey features embedded pinstripes with heavy cotton fabric and triple striped royal blue and yellow collar with open neck. The team logo is on the left chest with numerals sewn onto right chest, right sleeve, and reverse with NOB also sewn on. Dual Ellesse neck labels and interior side seam flap tag with content and manufacturer details. The jersey shows nice use worn by Pele as an Honorary Captain for an August 7, 1982 World All Stars vs Cosmos match in New York. Originally sourced from Giants Stadium employee.
The second, a gorgeous yellow embedded pinstripe heavy cotton New York Cosmos jersey used by international soccer superstar Pele in the late 1970s. The jersey features ribbed sleeve cuffs and triple striped collar with open neck. Ellesse neck labels and interior gusset seam manufacturer label (Made in Italy). Ellesse logo embroidered over chest team logo. Jersey has sewn on numerals on right chest, right sleeve, and back with NOB also sewn on. This rare yellow is considered the first “alternate” jersey in professional sports as it was worn for the team’s special events. Jersey shows consistent wear and is accompanied by a photo showing Pele wearing this style during dribbling exhibition. Sourced from 1970s-80s Giants Stadium employee where Cosmos played their home games. Outstanding and rare representation.
